Nanaimo Man Drowns in Kayaking Accident
CAMERON RIVER – The body of a 26 year old Nanaimo kayaker has been recovered from the banks of the Cameron River just outside of Port Alberni. RCMP say yesterday two best friends from Nanaimo set out to test their skills on the extreme, and challenging river, but despite years of experience the powerful rapids proved deadly. It appears the wave of Japanese tsunami debris is making its way further inland.
Officials in Washington State are seeing many more items washing ashore. Most of it fishing gear. But it is what could be floating into the Juan de Fuca Straight next that has them worried.
