Sports Anchor / Sports Reporter
A big microphone, a pair of headphones and the chance to talk about Hotdogs on the Radio — that’s all it took to sell Mira on a career in broadcasting!
Mira started voicing radio commercials at a young age for her family-owned radio station in Yorkton, Saskatchewan. Like her father and grandfather, she was a natural.
At 21, while studying at the University of Saskatchewan, she was offered a job by the owner of North Eastern Cablevision. Mira spent five years learning the ins and outs of the television business at NEC (Access Communications). From shooting and editing, to live reporting and producing, she’s done it all.
Mira moved to Victoria in 2001 as part of the start-up team at CIVI. She’s been an important member of the CTV family on Vancouver Island ever since.
Over the past decade, Mira has helped create an award-winning sports department with strong ties to island communities, a commitment to amateur sports, and a focus on local coverage. She’s the station’s Senior Sports Anchor. You’ll find her on the anchor desk weeknights on CTV News at 5pm with Hudson Mack, or live on location broadcasting from local sporting events.
Mira says the highlight of her career was being selected as the station’s representative for the Cops for Cancer Tour de Rock team in 2010. She biked more than 1,000 kilometres down the length of Vancouver Island, helping raise 1.4 million dollars for pediatric cancer research.
